Service Time: Sundays @ 9:00 AM | 64 Passaic Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601 | Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack

Membership is about joining your life to a local assembly of Christian believers, a body knitted together, for the Glory of God.

MEMBERSHIP AT HACKENSACK CITY CHURCH.

Membership at HCC is very important to our effective functioning as a church body, but it also a very simple process, so many of our regular, long time attenders have yet to take this step. If you have yet to become a member, please give it some prayer!

HCC members play an important role with the following:
• Official church members have the responsibility of ratifying our new elders as they are needed and nominated, which in turn makes a huge impact on the spiritual leadership at HCC.
• Members also approve or reject any significant monetary indebtedness that HCC will consider from time to time, such as the purchase of a new sanctuary building, etc.

But even more importantly, membership is about ownership and maturity. It is acknowledging the Christian's responsibility to be an active part of a local church body. Many Christians know the importance of regular church attendance, but spiritual growth and maturity comes as we contribute our time, energy, and resources to our church body. "Official" membership encourages the believer to take their role in the Body of Christ earnestly and diligently.

MEMBERSHIP COVENANT.

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS.

  • You must believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and be baptized
  • You must agree with the doctrinal, mission, vision, and philosophy of ministry statements of HCC
  • Agree with the HCC Membership Covenant
  • You must be at least 18 years of age (in some instances, exceptions may be made for those under 18 with parent or guardian support)
  • You must have the desire to become a member at HCC

If you meet these requirements, the next step is easy! Simply sign up for membership, and a pastor will contact you to set up a time to meet and talk through your application, verify your desire, and to welcome you as an "official" member of our church.

Step 1: Review Membership Statements (e.g. beliefs, mission and vision, church covenant, etc)

The foundation of church membership, above and beyond being a Christian, is to have some level of agreement on the important elements that define who we are as a church. This first step (reviewing membership statements) is your way of determining if this local congregation is a good fit for you.

Step 2: Submit Application

Once you have reviewed the set of membership documents and you agree with the various statements, all you have to do is complete the application form below and wait for someone to contact you.

Step 3: Pastoral Interview

The final step in the process is a discussion with a pastor of the church. This is intended to be a formal conversation with an informal feel. The main goal is for the pastor to get to know you and for you to get to know him. Once the interview is complete, the pastor will commend you to the congregation during an upcoming Sunday service.
